Naming daughter BJ

Yes. I would gently tell her BJ is slang for blow job, and suggest maybe she switch the names to be JB

But then she’s a cheap Scotch!

It's a name, though. My mom was BJ growing up. I mean, I wouldn't do it, but there are people named BJ out there and they are living their lives.

It's really quite possible not to notice, until you do. I grew up in small town with a "BJ's Flower Shoppe" and never gave it a second thought until I brought a friend home from college. She couldn't stop laughing.

Same. I grew up knowing a BJ and never thought of it in that way either.

There was a male BJ in my middle school. He made it a joke himself rather than letting others tease him. He’d tell people he was “Brandon ‘blow job’ Johnson.” I’m assuming he matured beyond this at some point, but he obviously felt self-conscious about his name or or wouldn’t have joked about it the way he did.

You could just say "sounds nice. One thing I always did before naming my kid/selecting their nickname was google it to make sure there wasn't anything unexpected I didn't realize"

I know an adult BJ and she is a complete knockout which makes her name stick all the more.

What? You think your friend is so conservative that you're afraid she doesn't know BJ is an acronym for blow job? Is that what this is?

More likely: she knows but hasn't made the connection.

I know someone named BJ. I've known her for 45 years. Reading this thread is literally the first time I have ever associated her name with bjs. Maybe you're just a perv.

+1 (but I know two women with this name, 35 years each)
