I’m a regular person who can believe that AirBnB has gone downhill, but I know that hotel owners have teamed up with hotel worker unions to stick the knives into AirBnB, and it certainly looks as if that’s what’s going on here now. If not, sorry, but that’s how it looks.

No, it doesn’t look that way. It looks much more like Airbnb and/or Airbnb hosts are teaming up to get critical content deleted.

Yeah, what makes more sense here?

OP is a supposedly regular disinterested person who apparently believes the shadowy hotel overlords are populating DCUM with fake Airbnb complaints

Or

OP is an Airbnb host worried about business drying up because so many people have bad experiences with Airbnb and talk about them online in places like DCUM.

Do your homework: look for Superhost listings, read the reviews carefully and notice what they're NOT saying that they should have said, look at the cleanliness ratings (has to very close to 5), and if it's too good to be true... skip.

I do all this and found an undisclosed camera in a rental.

Thanks. You’re replying to me here.

Sorry about my error.

The horrible thing about the subtle shills is that they look a lot like regular people, and it’s hard to tell what’s reasonable, interesting grousing and what’s a bunch of social media outreach interns.

I’m horrified by shillery on DCUM, because some DCUM users write laws and regulations. If AirBnB or the SEIU hijack discussions here, they can directly influence the rules. So, it’s a lot different than a site where the users are mostly 14-year-old gamers.

I don't know, on an anonymous site where everyone complains about everything, the amount of protesting and reporting for a couple of threads complaining about AirBnB seems more suspicious to me. Nobody does this for threads about bad flying experiences, for example.

there are a lot of people here with specialty hang ups

Correct, you should see the monthly trolling of Amazon. Every month, someone posts about how they're fed up with Amazon, because of the poor customer service, their deliveries are always late, blah blah blah. The thread ends when a bunch of people post to say they've never had problems with the customer service and most of their deliveries are on time. And the next month it starts again. Clearly someone with a hang-up.
