The NYT does not have a paywall behind search, so you can google "college essays 2022" (or any other article you want to read) and you will not hit the paywall. In this instance, it's better to read the essays, there are several, written very well.

For those who don't subscribe already, I get so much from our NYT subscription. It doesn't cost a ton and is so informative.
