Can wearing clothes with mildew on them make you sick?

Theoretically, maybe- if your immune system were very suppressed such as severe AIDS, chemotherapy. But e are all exposed to mold very frequently and most everyone does fine without an underlying condition. signed, MD.

Why are you wearing clothes with mildew on them? If it helps ease your anxiety, I had a large shipment of my household goods- clothes, small furniture, pillows, blankets, etc. arrive from overseas ruined by mildew. We had to have most stuff professionally cleaned outside our house or tossed, but there was about a week where we lived among it. I admit, I was slightly concerned it wasn’t quite healthy. BUT, no one actually got sick or suffered any immediate consequences.

I came from the sink thread. We store some clothes like coats and shoes in the basement that get moldy. I just do a Clorox wipe down of them but is there something I should be doing differently?

The white residue is because most people use too much detergent. You only need 2 tablespoons per load.

I live in a damp coastal area. Half of the people walking around smell like mildew. We’re all fine.
