Northwood middle college recruitment letter

Is your home school Northwood? As long as you to Northwood you can be in the MC2 program - there is no additional application.

My kid is also in a middle school magnet and he would never make such a claim which he clearly would never be able to make accurately as there is absolutely no way of knowing how something like that could be true. Are you the same poster who regularly makes claims about what “all” the magnet kids are doing? Big eye roll, everyone one of them.

Yes. You’re right. I should absolutely ground my child this weekend for using such a casual generalization based on his friend group. And no, I have no idea what magnet kids are doing. Curious: did your kid get the letter?

My non magnet kid also got it too.

My daughter got it (she's been in the mid 80% range). Great way to market their school. I think the job of the schools right now is to get people interested in their programs. It definitely got us more interested. I like that much of college would be paid for before entering. Tempting.

It would also make sense that all the magnet kids got it if it's based on MAP scores. My kids test much higher in math but seem to hang in there on Map R.

My low 90s child did not get a letter from Northwood. Wonder if there is also a geographic element?

It’s not based on scores. It’s a lottery and they have 30 slots for out of zone kids. If you go to Northwood you can automatically enter the MC2 program if you wish.

Apparently you have to pay for the college credits and other catches.

Starting this year, students in the MC2 program don't have to pay for the college courses regardless of income. This was relayed on October 20th, at Northwood's open house. The head of the program said they got the good news that afternoon.
