Well..I hear a lot of women using the term pant, and shoe for that matter. As far as I know they're not learning it from QVC.

Really doesn't bother me if someone uses the singular to specify a variety verses a specific pair. I know using the plural is adequate in both cases, but it does add some emphasis.

Haha. "Piece" doesn't annoy me, but this does. I have two feet so I'm not looking for A boot.

Agree. And lip, singular. As in, “a red lip.” Last time I checked most humans had 2 lips. Fashion speak is stupid

An employee at Home Depot complimented the “colorway of (my) fanny pack” last weekend and it still makes me laugh. I definitely didn’t expect my Cotopaxi fanny pack to garner compliments… lol

So we're doing this again? Picking a word and using it to trash a whole group of people who use it?

It would be so nice if you had something useful to contribute to the world, OP.

OP didn’t make a single judgment. Unlike you, by trashing OP for literally no reason. She asked a question out of curiosity.

she considers herself to be a "fashionista"

Ugh. This is the kind of person who says "curate" when referring to her specially selected "pieces." Probably also uses "gift" as a verb.

NP. You are right! I have a fashion-y friend who says each year “I need to curate my closet and get a few new pieces for spring.” (And talks about spring shopping in October.)
