To you. It's not worth it to you. Congrats you aren't the only person who matters.

The number of people stuck in traffic and/or waiting at home for Open Streets to be over probably dwarfs the number of people actually on the open street

They can try to blame it on the rain all they want, but attendance this year at Georgia Ave was a joke. Why not just have an actual, real street festival instead of this contrived nonsense?

How would a street festival be any different? I swear people like to complain about things just because they are marketed at pedestrians having a modicum of use out do public spaces for a few hours.

How would it be different? Just look at Adam’s Morgan for inspiration. First, only close down one or two blocks not a whole three miles. Second, if there are not vendors selling elephant ears you are doing it wrong. Third, how about some live music? The idea of closing down miles of streets so a couple dozen people ride their bikes in laps in the road is self-evidently dumb. Fascinating that you cannot see that.

You lost me at hating on elephant ears.

They're complaining there are no elephant ears. There's no nothing. Just a few bros riding bikes. Open Streets? More like Empty Streets. AMIRITE?

Ah you are correct, I am PP and missed the “not” in the sentence.

I didn’t make it to Open Streets but I know a bunch of kids who went and had fun at the foam party. Seeing pictures of kids in foam is worth a little traffic in my book!

Oh no something fun that DC residents enjoy that inconveniences suburban drivers on the weekend. Oh. No.

Suburban drivers are not coming to DC during the day on the weekend in large numbers. In fact, 80% of all car trips in DC are for non-commuting purposes. You are only inconveniencing your own neighbors who need to run errands and visit family and friends.

I agree that foam parties are fun for kids. Don’t understand why it needed 3 miles of closed road for something that only needs a quarter of a block.
