for NA wine: https://www.winemag.com/2022/02/24/best-non-alcoholic-wines-guide/ I havent tried them yet.
I have tried non-alcoholic beers (my favorites are the athletic brew brand) and have been very happily surprised by how well they do the job even though my drink of choice is white wine. Another friend who is more of a red and wine white drinker and didnt like my non alcoholic beers swears by adaptogens drinks |
I asked this question a year or two ago. Cranberry juice and a splash of seltzer in a nice glass gives a nice fuller mouth feel the way wine does. I'm not a tea drinker so for me that's not a good substitute. I haven't tried NA wines but am open to the idea. |
Adding to my previous post: Dram is the adaptogen drink she recommends https://www.dramapothecary.com/ And ichecked the NA wine link i posted, only one red wine in that list (a cab) but if you give it a go, let us know how it tastes ! |
OP here - did you end up cutting back? |
Fascinating- I’ve never heard of this, I’ll definitely look into it, thanks PP |
I get tart cherry juice (it's also supposed to be good for aches and pains after workouts) and mx with seltzer. |
The wine itself won't make you fat, but the food you eat as a result of drinking alcohol (appetite stimulant) will. Or the food you eat the day after to keep yourself going (carbs).
Just look at photos of corroded livers and think about high cholesterol and heart attacks. That's always helped me. |
This is supposed to be a great brand of NA wine:

San Pellegrino Momenti in the currant-pomegranate flavor is my go-to when I'd really like a glass of red wine but know that it's better not to. It's not overly sweet and has a reasonably complex flavor. They have other flavors, too, that are great, but this one satisfies that taste for red wine (mine, at least). |
Waterloo fizzy water with a straw. I like Watermellon. |
Can you just limit to one glass? That shouldn’t have more of an impact than soda or sweetened drinks. |
Make Saturday and Sun am runs (or yoga or whatever exercise) a habit, will help you with moderation |
I can’t drink because of pancreas issues. I haven’t had a drink since 2008. And I think that’s a large part why I look so young. People are just genuinely shocked that I’m almost 50. They think mid 30’s.
Maybe looking younger is motivating? |
That's fantastic but probably too late for most of us here. ![]() |
I feel like this is the answer and solves the excess calories problem (swapping with a soda or sugared tea isn't going to get you all the benefits of cutting wine). Use a strong cranberry juice like the ones in the glass bottles from health stores instead of ocean spray. Pom juice also works. |
