You can disagree with someone and not like what they have to say, but you don't have to be a hateful prick. Hate speech is not and should not be protected. Also, I think you're confusing free speech (the ability to say something without legal consequences) and idiot speech (sure, you're not going to end up in jail for it but the social repercussions are going to get you). So....I am a fervent proponent of POLITICAL free speech but not hateful, idiotic free speech.
