Mercs and cheap to services do not ever belong in the same sentence |
OP here. Thanks again all. Hubby wants new. Hard to get him to commit to CVT, just not his favorite. I'm still driving our 2008 RDX, which other than disappointing gas mileage, was a really fun until it got old. The turbo was peppy and the sound system was stellar. I didn't like our 2013 X5. It had power, but drove more like a truck than a car. I enjoyed the X1 years ago on wintry hills in Pittsburgh during a test drive, so may have to check out the smaller BMWs. We haven't checked out Infiniti or Lexus. We should. DH now seems to be coming around to the possibility of going electric and has asked me to research the KIA ev6. It looks big in photos, but I'll have to check. |
Flash tuning the honda to boost HP is illegal |
Haha, but no. |
Those are good choices. I would also consider a Kia Stinger or Genesis G70/G80. Depends on how sporty you desire, but there are rarely any sporty front wheel drive sedans other than maybe the Mazda or Civic Si. Another option would be a hot hatch with the new Toyota Corolla GR. |
It’s true. So is wearing your hat backwards when driving. |
I don’t know what tuning he flashed his Accord but not all tunes are illegal. For example this one is 50 state CARB legal. https://www.hondata.com/products/flashpro/flashpro-accord-2018-carb |
OP here. Great list, thank you. We need to go drive the BMWs. If only the dealer 7 minutes from my home had cars! Some of the hot hatches only come in manual (which I've sadly not succeeded in learning how to drive). Maybe the WRX if it's not too small. I've liked my Acuras, but read middling things about the TLX. And we will definitely drive the Audis. DH almost bought a Stinger before leasing the Steglio, which turned out to be a great car for those two years. The Stinger and G70 just seem pricey for what they are. The G80 is too big. With the beefier engine, the G70 MSRP approaches 60k. The G70 is the only car we've driven so far - and it was fine, nice even. At $40k, we probably would've taken it home. But other than having a better warranty, it doesn't seem like a significantly better value than the Germans. Thanks again! |
That flash allows datalogging. Any flash that boosts HP 20% is going to mess with NOx controls which means it’s not legal. |
That’s definitely what VW paid $4 billion in penalties for— giving out hats their dealerships and telling people to wear them backwards |
Chevy Malibu is last large lower priced 4 door sedan.
Cheap to fix will run 200k miles and you will die of boredom driving it |
Second vote for Kia Stinger if you want something fun to drive. Check out Cadillac CT4-V. Polestar is something as an alternative to consider. |
I almost bought a 2006 Caddie STS V series when they first came out. Seats 5 and goes 200 MPH. |
