I'm not an expert, but I think Penn probably shouldn't be my kid's safety. |
| NYU? Pratt? |
| My child's friend with similar interests is looking at Alfred University. Definitely a safety. |
| wesleyan - safety for 90%+ of brown admits |
Does Wesleyan have engineering? |
Hahaha! No way is Wes a safety for anyone. |
| Maybe double major at Michigan? Also second Carnegie Mellon. |
| Double major at a state university that’s ranked 100-75 is a true safety. |
If you are an artist you apply to PAFA, you are then able to also get a BA from Penn because of their arrangement. I am not an expert but a friend’s daughter (who is an artist that applied to and went to PAFA) also has a BA from Penn. Just throwing it out as something to explore for OP’s unique student. |

CMU - has the hybrid program, and also great minor options for the desing/art area. Enginering/CS is hard. Tuft - Good art department SMFA, they also have 5 year hybrid program. SMFA is at a different location(downtown area). Northeastern - Very good Engineering/CS college as well as Art/Design College. They offer combined majors. Minus if you don't like City school. Ranked lower than other schools. Cornell - Varieity of options, bad location. UF - has good (digital)Media Art options. Location? and weakest among the options although relatively ranked high. NYU - Variety of options and NYC, No coherent campus. USC - Cinematic Art is best of the best, but very hard to get it. West Coast. |
