| You’re a loser OP |
Who said it was at meets? Don’t kids practice? I am not a swim mom. You sound very aggressive, as if you’re triggered by this thread. Are you thinking back to photos YOU post and seeing they may be a bit over the top? |
Same sort of mothers. Living through their daughters’ sexual desirability. |
I don’t have social media, but thanks for your armchair psychology. I am a swim mom, and there are no parents on deck at practice, and the girls are not posing like the Kardashians after practice. My DD, and her teammates, are good athletes, and yes I take offense at people suggesting that there is some sexual or suggestive aspect to her sport because she competes in a swimsuit. Nice though that you took what were apparently photos of girls hanging out at a pool and turned that into swim moms posting inappropriate photos. |
| I think the original poster is confusing social media posts by team moms with articles by major media outlets. |
| Former female swimmer here and now parent of a young swimmer. One thing I have noticed is that the teenage and college age girl swimmers are basically walking around with their butts hanging out of their suits. Like they have wedgies that they don't bother fixing. This was not a thing when I was a swimmer and I would have felt self conscious walking around like that. But these girls seems to have more self confidence than I do, or maybe it's just not something that anyone cares about anymore. They are more muscular than we were 20 years ago so maybe they're like hey it's just glute muscles. I think the popular training suits, like Jolyn, have less coverage in the back now too. If a mom posted some photos of their daughter's team on the pool deck all wearing their training suits (or just regular competition suits but not the leg suits), I can see how one might be a little taken aback. It raised some eyebrows among moms of tween boys on our summer team. But it's just how the girls are wearing their suits nowadays. |
Not for swim team girls. This is 100% not what club swim team looks like. Not at a meet, not at practice, not at dryland, not going in and out of practice, not in high school varsity, etc. photos for swimmers don’t focus on butts. You’re gross to even say that. The type of photos you’ll see are a group of girls with their arms around each other and a towel around their necks holding up the number one on a finger or crouching by the pools edge cheering on a team mate or holding out peace signs. |
Not all. Jolyn also makes full coverage suits. But regardless, the swim team girls aren’t taking kardashian type pics. |
Full coverage doesn't matter when you don't bother to fix your suit when it rides up, which they all do. The girls aren't bothering to fix them. It's probably just a trend the same way we used to wear rolled up boxer shorts over our suits, slung low across our hips. Just a less modest trend. There is a lot more nudity/risque clothing than there used to be. Younger people don't look at it the same way adults do. Tale as old as time. |
No, they don’t all ride up. - I do volunteer work work for 2 teams and am on deck all the time. |
This is spot on. Why are mums encouraging this and taking photos of this and sharing such photos on their social media? Not cute, not ladylike. Quite gross and low class behaviour all-around. |
I have 2 kids who swim, and I’ve definitely noticed this among the girls. I agree that it seems like it is coming more from a place of self confidence and not an effort to show off, because I have seen so many half wedgies - one side covered, one side not. I don’t think they are trying for that look. At first, I was a little taken aback, but now I’m used to it. I still notice, because I hate that wedgie feeling myself, but nobody seems to give them another glance. When you watch the Olympics, the swimmers have similar body types, but in age group swimming, it’s much more diverse. There are swimmers of all shapes and sizes, so it helps all the kids feel less self conscious. |
Mums and behaviour, gross for female athletes to be photographed in training suits, but no comment when a male swimmer is photographed training in tiny speedos. Honey, the royal family posts are in a different forum, stay in your lane. |
Yes, they do. Try wearing the suits while doing flip turns and then come back and report to us. Your volunteer experience means nothing. |
My teenage daughter is a non-competitive swimmer and her swimsuit rides up. I hate it! |
