I don’t understand why people are just sitting and standing there.
I see the guy is proud of all of the attention on social media. Great. That will only encourage him to do more stupid things. |
| wtf is going on in ny? |
It's crazy. Daily Mail has coverage of the axe maniac and more events from NYC https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11224475/Axe-wielding-man-31-goes-rampage-NYC-McDonalds-REJECTED-young-woman.html The attacks and open air drug addicts shooting up are disturbing. It's like watching civilization break down before our eyes. Shocking in what is arguably the financial capital of the world NYC or London I think is #1, Tokyo and Shanghai are in the running. None of the other cities have New York's problems. Closest might be San Francisco, which is worse for drugs and homelessness, but not as violent it seems. |
| The axe man is out on bond and back on the streets. |
Calm down. I live in NYC, and it’s fine. The Daily Mail is trash, and highlights only the weirdest, most attention-grabbing stories. For every ax-wielding maniac, there are 1 million families hanging out in the park, going to brunch, enjoying their city. |
They were picking on him first, surrounding him, etc. |
Well, you’re in the minority of New Yorkers because 75% say crime is a “serious problem.” https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2022-is-nyc-safe-crime-stat-reality/ |

Uh 3 dudes were beating on him before he pulled out the axe.
Maybe he just came from Home Depot. Gotta be careful who you gang up on. |
| I do not understand why the three skinny guys punched him in the head. Part of me thinks that the 3 skinny guys should be in jail for battery (and stupidity). |
In his own words
He started a fight with three guys. Hopefully his axe is sharper than he is. |
No one should be in jail. |
Yeah, agree. The time has come for our society to move forward and eliminate jails and prisons. |
+1. Axes for everyone! |
Most people aren't very good at assessing actual risk. But frankly, that stat doesn't jibe with what I'm seeing--happy, peaceful families loving this late summer weather, dining outdoors, and taking advantage of everything the city has to offer. If you think NYC is a crime-ridden hellhole, stay away! More space for actual New Yorkers. |
