I’m hypermobile and I agree strength training is critical to avoid dislocations and other injuries. I agree with getting a trainer to teach proper form, but not one that will try to push you. A few things that help me. Always keep a slight bend in your joints, particularly elbows and knees. Be very mindful of hyperextending with weights. Think consciously about stopping when you get to 90 or 180 degrees, even though your body wants to go further. And pay super close attention to your joints. Stop immediately if you feel even a twinge. Guaranteed it will hurt for a month if you try to push through.
