This makes no sense

I agree, Biden tanking the economy with record inflation doesn't make any sense.

That’s some fantastic alternate reality you live in.

The stock market is nearly the same, or worse (depending on the day) three months ago. the S&P bottomed out on 6/17 and 300 points since then.

Sorry, I meant to say "nearly the same or BETTER" not worse.

This isn't like 2008. The Fed put is gone. 2008-2021 was an anomaly driven by an excessively accommodating Fed. That era is over.

Pessimistic people said the same thing in 2008 regarding 2001-2002.

You mean Thanks Biden voters!

The poor dude is trying his best, which is not that much.

I commiserate with you, OP. I'm an aggressive investor so I'm down more than 20%, but I have to look at the long term gains over the last 3 + years and I feel better. I am taking a few losses on moonshots I tried to ride, but at the end of the year I'll sell some long term gains to make it an even tax year. We just haven't had any good news in a very long time! Somethings got to turn up at some point. Crossing my fingers and toes.

In a few years you will regret not buying now. Dollar cost average. Don’t sell and try to time the market.

However, expect more traditional 6 to 10% growth for the next decade. Since 2008 there has been constant market stimulation.

We have just lived through one of the longest periods of sustained stock market growth in history. We will never see anything that long again in our lifetimes. The idea that it has been a very long time with no "good news" for stock market investors is...risible. Really. IDK how you are going around the world with views this dumb.

Do you mean Trump, because he's the one who put all the policies in place that took a while to effect the population. It's not like Biden came in and snapped his fingers and boom we're in a recession. Really clueless mommies on this board. Hope your rich husband keeps making the big bucks and doesn't trade you in for a hot blonde. Mwah!

Like Trump did. Traded in, I mean. Lol.

Yeah so dumb to think Biden magically made problems happen that started in previous administration. Silly rabbit.

Oh, please, maybe for you! Certainly not for a kid who just started working their first real job other than lifeguarding and summer internships.

It's actually great for that kid if they are investing now. You want to buy low, remember? The people who are hurting are the ones who just retired and need to start drawing on their savings, or the ones who want to retire in the next couple of years.

I don't know how to break it to you, but duration of time is not measured by how old you were when the measured interval began.

And: chances are good that kid isn't going to see a duration that long again, either.
