What fall tops to wear with wide leg jeans?

This look is horrible for those with tummies. With skinny jeans, you can easily wear a flowy top. I am tall, with skinny leg and I used to love the wide leg jean look until I hit my mid 40s. The other issue with the wide leg jean look is what shoes to wear. I like to be casual so I wear comfortable shoes---
it doesn't look great with the wide look.

I love wide legs jeans with a tucked in blouse.

And it fooled no one, the eye's assumption was there's a tummy in there. I think people who wear these styles and own their body, look better. The key is they have to fit. You can't display a tummy and also look like your pants are too tight. And a lot of people were wearing skinny jeans that didn't fit with the assumption that all was hidden under a top.

Yep, the pic of the woman above in the denim-ish pants in the office looks like she's on stilts her legs are so long. I'm short, and couldn't wear these styles the last time wide leg jeans were popular. I'm just going to stick with what looks good on me over what is in style.

Wide leg pants really only look good on skinny women with long legs, especially because they require slimmer tops to balance them out. I'm not short, but as someone who carries her weight in her hips, these styles look awful on me.

You know, I used to think this, but I’m short and pear-shaped and small on top, and I’ve come to really like wearing form-fitting tops with bigger/wide-legged pants. Yes, I look “bigger” on the bottom…but I am, and I think the small tops are flattering.

Same, but I'm tall and have big boobs on my narrow torso. My bottom half looks like an ice cream cone in skinnies. I am so happy that sleeker wide-legs are back with more style and cut options in stores.

I think the rise is the issue for some of these pants. High rise looks amazing on those with a flat stomach, defined waist, and curvy rear end. I think a mid-rise is more flattering for a wider variety of body types.

I'm tall and in my 50's, so no cropped tops for me. I like the oversized blazer look - in fact I have a couple I've saved from last time this was a trend.

I like this fitted look too. I could see myself wearing them with a fitted turtleneck or henley-style top

I agree- I think many different tops would look good with wide leg jeans as long as they are tucked in.

Then again, I’m probably considered an “unfashionable mom.”

I saw someone with PP's body type wearing wide pants with a form fitting top. She looked great and very confident. I got Mesopotamian fertility goddess vibes from her. It was a powerful look.

Rule of thumb: the wider or looser fitting the bottom, the slimmer fitting the top should be. Otherwise you'll look like a sack.

I got thrown to the wolves on this forum (about 6 months ago) when I suggested the look in pic #1. I was the literal laughing stock for even suggesting this look.

I think both these pictures look great. Just need the confidence to pull it off!

Anyone who suggests anything other than white jeans with a light scarf gets thrown to the wolves here, anyway. It's a funny place.

I would like look #1 with a slim top (or at least not denim on top of denim).

I don't think it's less forgiving--just forgiving for different people. Works great for pears like me who are small on top and bigger on the bottom. So glad that skinny jeans are on their way out!

I like bodysuits, honestly. A long sleeve v neck in a jewel tone would look great with flare or high rose wide leg jeans. Maybe not the comfiest though!

I have several of these and they are awesome with high waisted midi skirts for fall too!
