Laundry help - how to simplify, but still get stains out?

And use real detergent and pretreater. This is not the place to go eco if you are looking for efficiency.

How old are these boys? Absolutely switch to a real detergent. I use the Kirkland unscented, but Tide unscented is also good. If a stain is bad, I will also dab some detergent right on it.

Check everything when it comes out of the washer. If it still has a stain on it, do not dry it. Put detergent directly on the stain and wash again.

Be careful of soaking things in Oxyclean for too long. I've had things get discolored. (This is definitely a problem if you use Clorox Colors stain remover.)

It isn't unscented, but it isn't too strong: Fels Naptha soap. It is a bar, very inexpensive, and is the only things that takes out dirt and grass stains (including on white baseball pants). You dampen the stained area, grind in the soap. You can wash right then or it ca wait until you have a full load. Game changer for me.

I keep Shout in my kids bedroom. She sprays any stains when she gets u dressed at night before they go in the hamper. I sometimes spray again right before they go in the machine.

We use All Free & Clear. If the kids get something stained, I either just spray with Oxyclean, rub together and toss it on top of the washer and it goes into the next load of laundry. I have found that spraying stains with Oxyclean, breaks up most of the stains and even if they sit for a few days and dry out, the stains come out in the regular wash.

I mixed water and Oxy in a spray bottle and put one upstairs and downstairs on the main floor (where the washer is) to make sure that we spray fresh stains and throw in the hamper. I had read that straight oxy was too much to leave to dry on clothing.

Oxy works really well for stains. We use Free and Clear also but there is also an Oxy version that might be helpful for your situation OP.

Unscented tide and a scoop of oxyclean.

All Free and Clear, wash in cold water and dry on medium heat. For stains, apply Dawn dishwashing soap after wearing clothes that day.

What do you do for wrecked underwear and poop stains?

This. It is like magic.

Also lots of people get rashes from oxiclean so keep an eye out for that.

I have a toddler who stains all of her clothes. I spray stains with Shout spray and for really soiled loads I drop in a scoop of Oxyclean with Tide Detergent.

For my 12 year old son who gets a lot of grass stains on his clothes, I use the same stuff but also use Win Sports Wash with the Oxyclean and Tide to get the stink out.

Soaking items in Oxyclean also works but I only do that when a stubborn stain won't come out.

Lots of Shout Spray, Oxy Clean and Tide in the wash. I also run my machine on Sanitize load if it's really bad.

Ugh! Do you have boys? Do I have this to look forward to? Does this get worse as they get older? But they can wash their own stuff by then, right? We are still in ES.

I swear by Fels Naptha soap.
