| You don’t have to look, friend. |
| Why do you have to start a thread on this. Just ignore or get off social media. Who do you think uses it? |
| I hate social media. It's a competition to see who can make their life look way better than it actually is, and who can make their fake social media life look better than everyone else's. I recently completely gave up posting, and I feel better for it. |

I don't understand FB friends who put themselves in the position of being content police. Why do that?
Here's the thing- you DON'T get to decide what people post or don't post, or how often, or anything. I remember when we went through the beginning of the Trump years, when people were posting a fair amount of content, there was always someone who tsk tsk tsked about politics being posted...and continued to delineate what should be posted- fun things, like trips, kids, and pets. Then, there were the people who negated posting death announcements ( not appropriate (?)), or humble bragging, or food pics. Social media is organic. People use it in many different ways. Everything is appropriate, if that is what the user wants! Filter what YOU want to look at, but you have no business speculating what should or should not be on FB or any other site. There are literally no ground rules. |
Well, now that you asked, everyone. Including you. You are here, right? This is social media. I agree with your question to OP- why start a thread? It is a weird question. OP can decide what OP wants to view or not view without asking why some content is the way it is. Everyone uses social media now- it's in the fabric of our general interactions, a prominent social and business tool, a global, real time way to communicate information, everywhere and all of the time. Even if you decide to not own a specific acct(s), you also use it because information is dessiminated so instantly that without even looking at the source, it will still come to you somehow by one or more of your networks. It's inceptive as well as reactionary. It's become critical to just about all aspects of our lives, whether one likes it or not. But, you are a social media user, regardless. You are never really "off" it. |
