| I looked at the Lidl in McLean when it opened this summer. It would be fine if it was the only game in town, but I prefer a mix of other stores. |
| I went to Aldi once and never again. I don’t need to save money that badly. What a low class store. |
Might have been the one you went to. I thought the same until I moved near a really good Aldi. Now I can’t stand other grocery stores. It’s so cheap and easy to get in/out. |
I chuckle when people say this. I was at Giant today…literally the same brand of lettuce, strawberries and bananas that I buy at Aldi. I think the strawberries were $4 today. I bought them at Aldi for $1.25 about a week or two ago. It’s ridiculous to make it sounds like it’s a gross place with awful food. It’s from the identical supplier as other stores, inc Whole Foods for some produce. |
| I don't consider Lidl cheap and yes, some of the stores are pretty bad, IMO and experience (looking at you Burke location). The one in Springfield is new but somewhat difficult to get in and out of. I prefer Aldi for most of my shopping and backfill from Costco. |
| I shopped at a Lidl in Switzerland, the only place where prices resembled the rest of the world. But you are right it is a lower end place. I went to the one in McLean a couple weeks ago for some feta cheese. It was so bland. Won't go back again. |
I think Wegmans is way too overpriced, especially in their meat department. I will shop Aldi for certain items like crackers, fruit and vegetables. I buy most of my food, including most meats at Costco. |
glad you like it. it's for you, not for me. |
| Im obsessed with Aldi and Lidl. Lidl has a fantastic authentic German bakery. My husband is German, and we like all the european food you can buy there. |
| Lidl has amazing prices and some great products (produce, cold cuts, limited but good frozen). Funny that you call it low class, not everyone thinks of it as such...I walked out of the one in McLean a few weeks ago and literally ran into Terry McAuliffe in the parking lot on his way in... |
We do about 50% of our grocery shopping at Lidl and Aldi combined. You just have to learn what is good and what is poor value. I’m feeding teenagers so I’m grateful for what we save. I also compare prices using flyers and the websites. Today, eggs were cheaper at Giant than Aldi so we bought them from Giant. |
| It might be just the particularly Lidl I go to (poor storage practices?) but I've stopped buying milk from there. It spoils too quickly. I don't have any issues with the milk from Aldi across the street. Otherwise, I'm happy with Lidl. |
And this is why I chuckle. |
How is the Springfield one hard to get in and out of? Huge parking lot, never full, self check out… |
Why? Because you save $1? |
