Where do you buy your suits?

JCrew. I order a bunch online and try them at home. They are well cut, with good fabrics and nice colors. I'm 37, petite and they fit me perfectly without any tailoring.

Me too. i really like their suits. The pant legs are always long and need to be hemmed, though, just so you know.

I've also had some success with Victoria's Secret suit separates in the Christie fit. I feel like a shill for them. I was also saying I liked their bathing suits on another thread..

Really, though, I was surprised and thought the quality was good.

Go to Marshalls, TJ Maxx or even Ross, Filene's Basement & Loehmann's THEN get them tailored. Save a bundle on Theory, Calvin Klein, Kasper ASL etc.

I like Brooks Brothers. The suits fit well and I don't have to get them tailored. They're more classic and not so trendy that I wonder if it will look good down the line. I also find them to be a better value/price than the suits I founds at Lord & Taylor- went suit shopping this past weekend and ended up at Brooks Brothers.

Inga's Once is Not Enough in Palisades.

Filene's has some great suits --mostly the downtown locations. It's a good place to stop in once a month and see what they have. I've gotten Tahari and Calvin Klein ones that hold up well.

I luck out at Filene's about one time out of three.

OP here. Thanks for all the ideas! One more question: has anyone ordered suits from Overstock.com? I saw that they have the same Ann Klein and Tahari suits that I bought at Lord and Taylor (as far as I can tell from the small pictures) but much cheaper. I am thinking of returning the one that I haven't worn yet and getting it from overstock.

Before I lived anywhere near good shopping, I used Overstock and Smartbargains (Loehman's) exclusively. I had a lot of luck with Tahari suits and found that everything I have bought fits almost the same.

Definitely check out regular Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, as well as Macy's. Maybe try a different Lord and Taylor? I buy my suits at all of these places, then have them hemmed or altered to suit my needs.
