| OP here - just wanted to say thanks for all the excellent advice! I'm in Alexandria and will definitely check out the local shops mentioned. |
I think this is what I’m going to start doing. Every time I wear my diamond rings, I worry they’ll be stolen or I’ll lose them. I think I’ll just get a great CZ ring and not worry about anymore. |
| Costco - seriously |
If you're thinking about CZ, i'd encourage you to look at moissanite as well. Moissanite is harder on the mohs scale and will be less likely to chip/get cloudy/show wear. It has really beautiful sparkle. |
| What about in Maryland or DC? |
YES! I was shopping there the other day and couldn't believe how beautiful the diamond were. Spent way too long in that section! |

If your rings are falling off they're too big, and where do you live that you're worried about getting mugged?? |
|
I mean I just don't understand the worry about losing my rings or them being stolen. Can't even imagine a scenario where that is possible. |
| Ive had my eternity band resized twice. They just ground out the inside. 17 years later And it's great. Estate platinum Art Deco. |
| I need to resize my engagement ring-25 years later, it’s too tight to wear. It’s a lovely center diamond with channel set diamonds in a platinum band. For those of you that resized, what was the cost? I’m fairly cheap and perfectly fine wearing my simple band. |
I just dropped mine at a jeweler in Boston. After 33 years, my joints have swollen and my rings won't fit over them. About $80 for white gold. |
| I am divorced and have one sitting in a box in the closet that I will sell you for cheap |

I recommend Washington Diamond in Falls Church, VA.
They are a small store with good customer service. They do not pressure you or make you feel rushed. They can work with you if you want a specific setting and even one that you purchase elsewhere. I'd suggest doing some reading about diamonds (quality, cut, clarity, etc.) so that you walk in a bit educated. It is so helpful. |
