We've been in Claire's several times when someone got their ears pierced and their ears are always BRIGHT red afterward. The tattoo parlor seemed much gentler and more hygienic. Also we had an issue with my 6 year old not taking care of hers properly and one ear seeming like it might have closed back up, and the parlor was great about cleaning it and and re-opening it.
Agree. Took my kid to Craig Pokes U and was impressed with the care the piercer took with ensuring the holes would be even; turns out my kid’s ears aren’t symmetrical, with one lobe longer than the other. Rather than centering on the lobe, the piercer was careful to ensure the piercings were on the same horizontal plane.
I also think the after-care issue is important. Infected piercings and removing earrings too soon after piercing are common, and a professional piercing place will give you lots of guidance and provide post-piercing follow-up care.
