Got a crappy watermelon but don't want to just throw it out

my daughter once got handed a watermelon outside of Walmart by an old lady that realized she couldn’t carry it home. That Walmart watermelon was the best we ever had. I still wish I could find her and have her show me how she chooses her watermelon (impossible fantasy of course). Maybe this guide will help! Thanks!

Country PP here. Those are the guidelines we used when choosing a watermelon to steal and inject with vodka back in the day!! Esp the orange field spot is crucial.

I have the produce guy pick one out for me with varying degrees of success. I am now 60 which I believe is officially the age you can return fruit that is inferior, especially $5.99 a pound cherries that are mushy.
