How Much to Pay Live In Nanny?

I would think salary would go down 10k as a compromise? I don’t need someone after hours or any time outside of working hours like an au pair.

I agree but you need to find a nanny who needs housing. The other poster with the guest house and moving is a perfect example of a reduced hourly rate from before moving in but the stars sort of aligned on that one. A separate house, LA, move and tween daughter plus an established nanny.

A separate house is way different than a basement room and bath. I would take reduced rate for a little guest house in LA! But for a dank basement room in DC? No.

If you think living in a basement is so wonderful then you move to basement and let nanny live above ground? Basements are dark, frequently moldy, and wet. Plus you probably have laundry facilities in this lovely English basement which means she loses her privacy.

This is a very thorough and accurate blog post you may find helpful.

Yup, this. Live In nannies do not make less than live outs.

Exactly. The pros and cons usually even out, unless you have a detached little home for the nanny.

Some parents have even been found to have hidden cameras in the nanny’s bedroom. There’s no guarantee of any privacy whatsoever.
