Kitchen flooring dilemma

"Ignore the haters who say you can't ever get anything wet on a hardwood floor - that is what polyurethane is for. 20+ years in a home with hardwood in the kitchen, 3 kids, 2 dogs, no problems with the hardwood, and believe me we have lots of messes!"

So can you explain why I have black spots on my hardwood floors where dogs bowls are and where the dishwasher leaked?

I don’t think oak is difficult to match (ours was from the 1940s). Nobody seemed to think this was difficult or unusual.

Same.

No, I cannot. Maybe it's time to refinish your floors? Any decent hardwood floor company can, and can fix/patch it so you'll never know. Ours have held up, no problem. Same with my siblings, my parents, my inlaws, aunts (we all cook/use our kitchens all the time!)

I had a refrigerator leak (broken ice maker) and wash dishes / drip water in my tiny kitchen with hardwood floors countless times each day (we do not eat out). No spots, though we do have a few dings from me dropping heavy items.
