My son has taken all honors courses at GWMS (he is a rising 8th grader). The difficult level has varied widely. Some were a fair amount of work, some were basically what I would expect from an ordinary middle school course. |
I don't know about 8th grade, but all 7th graders had to do an independent science project. I can't say that the teacher provided a huge amount of guidance, beyond a very lengthly document about what was expected. My child still did well enough to move on to the Northern VA Regional Science fair (but not beyond that). |
We fled after one year at GW. It’s pretty rough for the various reasons stated (overcrowding, fights, not enough space in the cafeteria for lunch, deteriorating buildings with mold/gas, disgusting bathrooms that don’t get cleaned enough and have no soap).
Just a disgrace that the City’s middle schoolers are expected to learn in these conditions. Alexandria repeatedly fails its students in every imaginable way. |
What is it with ACPS' inability to have clean bathrooms and soap? It was the same at George Mason the entire time my kids were there. |
Kids vandalize bathrooms with the soap. |
If that's true, you'd think the bathrooms would be less filthy. |
Even during the return after Covid |
