Why do high schools with metal detectors take bomb threats seriously?

The OP is not an intelligent being. Always take bomb threats seriously. I pulled my kid out of school because of bomb threats. They had metal detectors. They also had lots and lots of room for human error. Texas should be a good example of why you do not trust public schools these days to keep your children safe.

OP here. The scanners can detect other non-metal contraband as well. They were able to detect when students brought cigarettes and confiscated them. They should be able to detect all types of bombs with 100% accuracy.

OP, not sure the educational system is working for you. The bomb can be made from things found inside the school. Do they teach chemistry at your school? Do the custodians have cleaning supplies?

Yeah there aren't detectors that work like that.

I was a chemistry major. There are quite a few things you can mix together to make some kind of violent reaction and detecting all of them isn't really feasible.
