Is it possible MCEA could still endorse Silvestre for the general election? |
With the new and more contagious and deadly variants I kind of wish they'd reinstate the mask mandates. |
Yeah. I’m not looking forward to the start of the school year. I think MCPS is going to have a major staffing crisis this fall- even worse than last January with the green/yellow/red schools clusterjam. They’re going to have a lot of sick teachers on top of struggling with all the teachers that quit. |
Quite possible if they opponent is someone they really don't like. |
Apple ballot endorsement |
I wouldn't hold your breath in that one |
I see what you did there. |
By not endorsing anyone they basically endorsed her anyway. In a down ballot primary like this, where there’s virtually no money involved, they basically guaranteed she would win. And now we have no realistic candidate to vote for in the general to oust the incumbent. So irritating. |
She’s the only one I like. |
Ok, but voters still deserve viable alternative candidates to the incumbent. We need Ranked Choice Voting ASAP in Montgomery County. |
Maybe MCEA didn't consider any of the three challengers to be viable alternatives, and they didn't want to endorse an incumbent, given their "no confidence" vote. |
Amazingly based - no wonder he is in the top 2 |
You can’t tell me that MCEA would much rather have Fryar or Erickson, whose campaigns were basically just “keep schools open at all costs and don’t make us mask!!!” over Giandomenico, whose campaign was all about trying to find solutions to combat teacher burnout. |
No, that isn't what I was saying. I'm sure they would rate Giandomenico higher than either Fryar or Erickson. But maybe Giandomenico still didn't meet whatever threshold they use to issue an endorsement. |
Agreed. Abstaining was the wrong move. Wonder if they will have to endorse Karla |
