Great Ape, 8 kids. Reserved a party room at the rec center just in case it was raining.

She wanted to do ifly but that was expensive for a party. We did do it later with just her bestie. But if your party is small or you don't care about the money it was fun.

Was not our party but DD went to a hotel sleepover. Friends of ours booked adjoining rooms at local hotel with nice indoor pool (points). Girls went to top golf, had dinner, back to hotel to swim and watch movie/slumber party. Out for breakfast in the a.m. where we picked her up. This was only with 4 girls total. Not cheap but not a total blowout either. DD had so much fun and I thought it was a great idea for a group of close friends, especially in summer.

DD invited 4 friends to have lunch at her favorite restaurant with birthday cake and then a movie together with popcorn & slushies. She seemed to love that it was more of a "grown up" party, like older girls might do.

We did a Harry Potter birthday at home and I geeked out but the kids, especially the fans, said it was the best party ever. Boys and girls total about 12 kids, many siblings ended up staying. My backup plan was a cake decorating party or a pool party. I also like the movie idea.
