If you know the person who runs it and truly are using this as a business in, this feels like an easy excuse: “Oh, we love the ones that are age appropriate, but unfortunately DC has had to leave a few times because the activities were too advanced for her. Is there a way to find a list of what will be happening each week? I don’t think we can continue going if we risk leaving, it’s too disruptive to DCs schedule, but if we knew the activity would be something DC could do we would go” They might give you the list, but then you can at least give nanny the compromise of not every week. |
No. You are wrong. Parents should discuss extra work involving nanny. |
Parking issues with a little kid in tow are miserable. I would let nanny skip it. |
Can’t believe you’re not trying to stay in the NANNY’S good graces. Wow, OP. |
Hope you have time to look for a new nanny . |
I can't say whether I'd make them go, without knowing more about both the situation and the relationship with the person running it. But if OP is trying to stay on someone's good side implying that the activity was so poorly planned that her kid had to leave isn't the way to do it. |
I disagree. I have days where I don't like parts of my job. But's it my job so I do it and not complain because I'm getting paid. |
Nanny here. I do stuff I loathe if my charge likes or benefits from it. |
If you have a connection with the owner then they should tell you the activity before. If they don’t consider you important enough for that then there’s your answer.
The owner sounds entitled and clueless. |
I’d tell you, find a new nanny. Problem solved. ![]() |
Find a new nanny who loves parking issues and baking in the sun? Good luck with that. Nanny is allowed to have her feelings about things. All that matters is the child’s experience. |
I wouldn’t force it for the rest of the summer no. If you otherwise like your Nanny be kind to her. This activity sounds miserable. |
Use Uber/Lyft to take nanny and child to the program so she doesn’t have to deal with traffic and can leave whenever it gets too hot or the activity is inappropriate. |
It's a once a week thing, and fits within what a nanny reasonably would be asked to do. Tell her you need her to finish it out, but won't sign your child up again. |
Uber with a car seat? |
