Lobbying — how to get in?

Is what you do in the lab relevant to a regulated product or industry? Try to make connections (in an ethical manner) with the trade associations or companies that are interested/invested in what you're working on now. You can make the leap as a subject matter expert. There are many paths to lobbying. You don't have to have worked on the Hill. As to the work-life balance, this is different in every industry and can be blown out of the water when Congress is looking at something your industry cares about. Defense is a much more consistent industry than some others.

An MBA is a terrible idea. If you do not want to do law school-- check out GW's Grad School of Political Management (GSPM)- Master's Degree in Legislative Affairs. I think you can do it in one year


LOL! No way, Most of the lobbyists I know didn't take this route and do quite well for themselves.
