No real meaning? It means something to me!

LOL. I have a box full. You can have it. All of it.

Perfect example of why the first line supervisors have the worst job in the govt. People like you who always assume the worst.

Oh stop. Acknowledging the good work of your staff should be a highlight of being a supervisor.

But you don’t know that she has it, and you are convinced she is “withholding” it? Paranoid much?

How?

Because it was shared with her.

Why don't you just ask her? "Hey, I received an award for $X in my last paycheck and I was wondering if you could share the write up with me so I can note it in my next performance review?"

First line supervisor is such a sh*t job maybe she was busy or just forgot. Or maybe since the other person put you in for it the other person received the approval documentation from HR. Don't stew over it, just ask!

What was shared with her? And how do you know? Talk about a problem employee.

My supervisor always forgets to notify me about these performance awards, though in my case, there’s no certificate…but yes just ask!

It's been over a month and I haven't received that award yet from my supervisor, though the money portion appeared in my paycheck. In fact, my supervisor hasn't even acknowledged it. What gives?

Supervisor is busy.
Supervisor forgot.
Supervisor has a process to issue the awards for everyone on the same day on regular intervals.
Supervisor hates you.

Any of these could be options.

For goodness sake, just ask!

THIS!!!!! First line supervisors have it rough.

And no, I don't mention awards until it hits their paychecks. Sometimes it takes months, because government. You can't tell a person beforehand becasue there's always some chance that it doesn't happen. Or if it does happen and is delayed, the employee will nag me daily about where their money is.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. Not looking for public recognition. The award, which consists of a certificate and cash, was shared with my supervisor who was expected to share it with me. I was expecting an email with the certificate attached.

Then ask about it! Sheesh. She probably was waiting for you to give her confirmation the cash hit your paycheck. Sometimes there's a huge lag.

Why would she wait for me to find out about it through my paycheck? What's wrong with a "Hi Larla. Congratulations, you received an award for X. Here's a copy of the certificate. You should expect to see $X in an upcoming paycheck."

Are you sure there is an "it"? In my office, the "it" is the form a supervisor fills out to get that payment processed to hit your bank account. It requires about 2-3 sentences of justification. The employee doesn't even see it. But there is an SF-50 issued to reflect you got a performance award. That's your documentation. Yeah, an announcement is nice, but the money is the thing.
