Frumin to the left of Cheh?

Goulet's campaign money is troubling.

Never heard of Thomas, so there's that.

Frumin maybe wasn’t a leftist but he now has aligned himself with the most leftist, fringe elements to form his coalition. This isn’t like a presidential race where he can tack back to the middle for the general. This is the election. It doesn’t matter anymore what he used to be, this is who he is now because this is his coalition.

They aligned with him because Silverman ran a poll, probably to determine who she wanted to back in the race, given the troubling components of Goulet's campaign. She saw that in order to beat Goulet, others would need to be pushed out, and clearly Frumin must have been in the best position to that goal. He didn't ask for it. In my view, Frumin is a traditional midwest liberal, not a progressive. So probably more like Cheh than anything else, perhaps even to the right of Cheh, if we are being honest.

I read on here that Goulet doesn’t send his kids to DC schools. Is that true? If so, no fIng way can I support him.

Did you support Cheh? Her kids went to one of the most expensive elite private schools in the city.

I thought she had decided not to run.

She’s not running. But it’s interesting that folks that maybe were happy to vote Cheh are now saying that candidates with kids in private school is a bridge too far. It’s funny.

Then she’s not relevant. And “maybe” isn’t particularly convincing.

Congress already tries to run DC. I don’t want a council member so deeply in the pocket of DFER.

Has Goulet volunteered in the ward?

This discussion has been helpful. I’m voting for Frumin. He is not crazy left. Seems liberal + practical which is a good combination in my book.

Goulet is the only one who supports trying to renovate RFK stadium to bring the commanders back, which I think is a money-hole and terrible idea tbh...

This alone should disqualify him.

I guess it's what DFER wants.

Never.

Which council candidate will stand up to the developers’ lobby and their shadow money? “Smart Growth” is code for upzoning DC neighborhoods to create high profit opportunities for developers. What is needed is balanced growth. Which candidate stands for that?

If he has, he sure hasn't touted it.

Uh, creating more affordable housing and densifying our cities is part of the Administration agenda for the country. If you are opposing these things, maybe rethink your party affiliation. Same with bike lanes.

Building affordable housing requires builders. Of course they're motivated by profit. Have you ever been involved with construction? No one in their right mind would do that if there wasn't profit to be had.

Elissa Silverman moved heaven and earth to clear the field for him, but he doesn't share her politics? Doesn't seem like sound logic.

She took the poll probably hoping it would show strong for Tricia so she could clear Frumin and the others out, but it backfired on her. This probably wasn't something Frumin asked for, though he was likely happy to take it.

I believe they attend the same synagogue, so it’s not like they wouldn’t already be familiar.

Attending the same synagogue is quite the reach.
