| Even if phones are away, kids are still playing games on their Chromebooks. It’s awful. |
Message friends and play games. |
Our school revised their Chromebook policy to minimize this. Kids will no longer have access to chrome books at school but only when needed. I thought it was countywide. |
Why do parents foster this behavior? |
What school is this? In MCPS? Our middle schoolers did so much of their work in school on the Chromebooks -- to the point that they had no idea what would be done the last week of school once the Chromebooks were collected. What I would give for a textbook every once in a while... |

My solution next year will be a bit unique. My unit exams are pretty tough and I have allowed open notes. Next year students who are napping, playing games on computers or on phones will not be allowed to use notes. No retakes.
Parents will be informed…. My program is optional and has GPA requirements to stay in. Insert insane laughter…. |
I haven't met a teacher yet that doesn't allow retakes. I can't even believe how much they are offered and the final grade is the higher of the two. Not the difference. That said, I am sure you will get pressure so you better be sure your principal is 100% backing your decision. Good luck! |
I would assume some parent will go to the principal with this. You are not following policy on retakes. |
In MS/HS, if your kid doesn't have a smartphone, it will be hard to socialize. I got my then MSer an android years ago, and DC was left out of the group chats because all the kids used iMessages, and apparently, it doesn't work well with android phones. My DC saved money and bought an iphone. I don't "foster" my kid to play on their phone. They have straight As, but I prefer that they don't spend additional time on their phones during class. |
Unit exams are not required to be retakeable according to county policy. Thank teachers if they do it. FYI, 50% rule also doesn’t apply to the classwork prep category. |
