Cat seems to be nearing the end. When did you know it was time to say goodbye?

OP again. I honestly can't say how grateful I am for all the kindness I've read here.

Our sweet girl died very peacefully today in my arms. I'm glad I was able to hold her. The kids knew this morning it was likely, and said their goodbyes as well. We all have had some good cries together already and I'm sure we will have more after school today.

Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.

In literal tears reading all of this, and my ailing 14-year-Old cat hopped up on the sofa to be next to me, which she hasn’t done in weeks. 😿

Aww, my sincere condolences 💐 to you OP.
Extended to your family as well.

I did the same. Money well spent. I definitely waited too long and deeply regret that. One thing to note. My cat was still eating and drinking so that made things tricky but now that i look back on everything, her quality of life had really diminished and I was not able to look past that at the time.

I could tell when she wasn't herself - not eating or drinking and starting to want to be alone that she was in pain and it was time. I had her put to sleep at home and she died in my arms. It was expensive but worth it. She'd have been so scared and miserable at the vet's.
