| I'm torn on ranked choice voting. I do think the bar should be higher for candidates to receive public campaign financing. I'm sick of these candidates running vanity campaigns with taxpayer money just to raise their name ID. Marcus Goodwin, Sabel Harris etc etc |

100%
I'd rather have a jungle primary but ranked choice would better than what we have now. What is the point of an election if all that matters is the primary? |
| Exactly, it would stop all the games. It feels like freaking prom king and queen but with the nerdy kids dragged in from behind the gym during every council seat primary |
| To add insult to injury, then you are peer pressured into voting for one these caricatures like a good sport and you know they all suck the same or wouldn’t be running in the first place |
| Yes |
| RCV would only encourage even more people to run. It would be a friggin’ nightmare and there would be so many similar options that nothing would change and it would probably make things worse. |
| There should be runoff elections if the top vote getter doesn’t get 50%. That’s the easiest solution. |
| I'm in favor of anything that will cut down on the amount of people running. It is ridiculous that some of these people are getting taxpayer money for their campaigns. |
| Definite yes. |
| yes; though I'm amenable to 50% runoffs if there is more support for that. |
Public funds shouldn't be used for primary campaigns |
| Yes, Ben, I would. |
1. Raise the threshold of DC-based contributors for Fair Elections. It's 150 DC-based donors + $5,000 in contributions from DC donors at the Ward level. Make it 250 donors. 2. Raise the necessary number of signatures to get on the ballot in open races. It's 250 at the Ward level. Make it 500 for open races. Keep it at 250 when the incumbent runs. These two tweaks would have made some folks (Monika Nemeth) not even consider running in the first place. |
| The system now is such that incumbent wins. That’s how we end up with dynastic councils, down to the inbred crazies in power for years and years. Democratize and get rid of the nutcases |

yes!
but a jungle primary system like california would be even better |
