Anything can be a name OP. Looks like how my ancestors spelled "Benjamin" in the 1700s--they wrote it like they pronounced it.

It sounds like a child’s mispronunciation of the name. Maybe the little boy wants to spell it the way he says it or has heard it from other children?

In any event, I think his parents are doing a good thing to support their son in spelling his name the way he wants to spell it. Doing this tells this child that his parents have his back and knowing this about his parents can pay big dividends when he is a teen.

I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
