How do Washington & Lee and Davidson compare?

If the only evidence to support the contention it is the best of these three is Emory’s name, one as well say “Tulane, hands-down” or “William and Mary, hands-down“. Times have changed and these once great universities are less great in 2024.

New PP here, with a DC at Davidson. I agree that W&L is not a regional school. Considered both.

DC chose Davidson for multiple reasons but especially the more moderate (to liberal) culture, less emphasis on fraternities, D1 sports culture.

Also, Davidson is more proactively addressing the past (we felt especially important for southern schools):

But I guess if you buy inti that kind of self-flagellation thing of “acknowledging” and apologizing for someone else’s generation of wrongs out of guilt that you are somehow unfairly benefiting—-and you have somehow convinced yourself that nothing more than this is needed to redeem you from condemnation, then yeah I guess it’s “important.”
Feels a bit like Mao’s struggle sessions to me, designed to virtue signal. Nothing more.
