What is a YouTube creator?
Like people who do how-to videos? |
I think it’s refers to the creator of a channel. The videos are not necessarily how-to videos, but could be about anything. |
Anyone who CREATES content for YouTube. YouTube is the second most popular search engine after Google. |
Oh, okay, I've never used it. Occasionally if I search for instructions on how to do something, I'll see a link to a YouTube video. |
I watch more content on YouTube than I do on broadcast TV, cable or Streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. |
+1 |
Same! |
| I had no idea that people watched YouTube like it's a TV channel. I thought it was just little video clips. |
I stay logged in through Google and I pay a monthly fee for YouTube a premium so I never see an ad on a video ever. I can also download videos to my phone. The algorithm will suggest videos all the time, and if I like the creators work, I will subscribe and get notified when a new video is posted. I also learn when to expect new content. Like there are two owners of Huskies in the UK that upload short clips MWF. Others are on Mondays, etc. Some are short clips and some are 15-30 minutes. It really depends on the creator. I’ve also been turned on to services like Curiosity Stream and Nebula where for a small yearly fee, you can get tons of compelling ad free content. |
Performances of all kinds News Sports? (I think you can get these if it’s your thing, but it’s not mine Lectures Expert Commentary on any subject People talking about their experiences living in various places Animals Travel/Scenery Some movies free with ads (not really impressed with selection, although I’ve watched a few things. I think their paid tier offers a better selection, but I don’t watch that many movies.) Archeology Interviews Trivia Logic Puzzles Historic Footage Reviews on books, movies, tv, games, new tech, shoe construction, kitchen appliances, coffee brands, cars, etc. - and, of course, How-to Videos etc. I really wish they had some kind of random button. I’ve stumbled across some great things that I never imagined existed and would have never thought to search for. Basically, if it’s something you can watch and/or listen to, you can probably find at least its type represented on YouTube, if not a specific example. |

I like cooking channels:
Foodwishes Binging with Babish Tasting History |
|
I stumbled across a short documentary about Mennonites in South America today. Never know what you’ll find on YouTube.
My favorite guilty pleasure is the Bondi Rescue channel. Clips and full episodes of a reality show about the lifeguards at the famous Bondi Beach in Australia. So entertaining! |

| This is a great thread. I also watch Youtube Premium instead of TV. Surprised that several people mentioned cruise channels. I also subscribe to vida loca and Dons Family Vacations (he only discusses cruising). Funny thing is I have never cruised, and don’t have plans to. Maybe when I retire. I will check out all the channels listed so far; familiar with about 30 percent of them. Anyone watch Mark Weins, he has like 8M subscribers now. I used to watch every video of Strictly Dumpling, but then he started getting lazy and going to random unremarkable restaurants around wherever he happens to be, so I stopped. Check out Aaron and Claire for good easy korean recipes. |
