13:47 is your Re in this area?
|
My RE isn't a believer in the immune stuff and has said that he thinks the possible unknowns outweigh the uncertain benefits of the treatment. I'm not as far along in the research of these treatments as many of you seem to be, but what is he talking about? What is so controversial about these treatments? Having had 3 m/c's now with no diagnosis from my RE, I am looking for answers SOMEWHERE.
HI 13:47 poster from 7/25 here. My RE is in NJ. He was the only one that wanted to look beyond my eggs. The RE's here in DC just wanted to say I had to keep waiting for the one golden egg. But my RE in NJ did a free referral with me. He heard my history and said there was a good chance that I had elevated NK killer cells. After testing, it was confirmed. And since we had a 50% DQ alpha match, it seemed very reaonsable and logical that my ivf failures were because my body was rejecting the embryo due to the killer cells. Intralipids don't have any side effects. Even the nurse that gives me the infusion said its all natural, fat and energy supplement. They usually give it to sick patients who aren't getting enough fat in their diet. I know its out of the box as far as infertility but I won't try for another DC without it. I'm convinced it made all the difference.
Hi all, i am in the same boat as all of you. i just found out that i have elevated NK activity (11.9%) and were told to go on intralipids or IVIG upon conception (we have no problem getting pregnant, just keeping it). I have a son (2 yr) and had no problems with him or that pregnancy. I have had 5 other miscarriages (2 prior to him and 3 after - one twins and one at 16 weeks, the last one, a boy). I will do anything to have another, but as all of you are talking about the expense and location is hard to find. I am in SC. I have family in St. Louis and did see the Sher people have a clinic there and didnt know if anyone has been there and had treatment with intralipids there (since it is cheaper than IVIG). Or knows of anyone close to SC who does it? I am scared and nervous about this all. I just want to do the best thing and be able to have a healthy baby again.
Hi 18:48. You should check out the SIRM discussion board. I think that the timing of intralipids is very important so you may want to read up on that if you are considering doing it. Also, some of the SIRM clinics offer free phone consultations (in-depth) which is VERY unusual for REs. I would suggest calling them and seeing what they recommend. I know the NJ office still does free consults. The Vegas office may not due to their extreme popularity. GOOD LUCK!!! FIngers crossed for you!
