Mediocre restaurant that went to trash during covid, cheesecake factory and pf Chang

Anonymous

I only order chicken madeira at Cheesecake Factory because I love it. I go there about once every few years. I can't imagine how you all are so knowledgeable about everything they serve, unless....hmmm....so, it's horrible but you know all about their food?

I also occasionally eat at high end restaurants with fantastic food but usually only when my daughter visits and offers to pay, I'm living on a fixed income.

I also sometimes crave McDonalds and it really hits the spot if that's what you want. I got a cheeseburger and small fries off the dollar menu recently for about $4 that was great!

Mostly I eat at home. So I'm not quite the connoisseur of Cheesecake Factory and PF Changs that you guys are!

I’m pretty picky and I actually like the meals at Cheesecake Factory (not ideal for takeout though). I think most of their cheesecakes suck, I prefer a dense NY-style as opposed to fluffy, creamy (pre-frozen) cheesecake dressed up with toppings and whipped cream.

Screw these places, I hope they go bankrupt

People love to rag on chains while MOST independent restaurants SUCK too. I'm personally just so over restaurants, both dining in and carry out. It's all a racket for crap food.

They were both always mediocre at best designed to appeal to flyover America OP. It is what it is.

Kind of agree. It is either high end and very expensive or middle priced crap; stuff they buy in bulk from Sysco or GFS then put on a plate

They’re decent. You people are snobs.

I ate at Cheesecake Factory once in the 90’s. It was lunch with some clients, and I ordered a salad. The plate was massive! I can eat, and I barely made a dent. Everyone at the table left so much food behind- seemed like such a celebration of gluttony and wastefulness.

OP, you are the cheesecake beneath my wings. In the city I live in, the Cheesecake Factory is in the top floor of Macy's. I was at Macy's, hadn't eaten breakfast, it was almost lunchtime, and I decided to get takeout from CF because of this thread.

The food was solidly bland - no taste at all. Not worth it at all. The cheesecake was pretty good. I feel no need to get it again, but it was nice.

Buffalo Wild Wings boneless wings. Ordered 100 of them for the kids and some of their mates the other night... absolute rubbish.

That’s why cooking your own is the way to go. You can make food yourself that is better than 98% of the restaurants in the US.

Likewise, Cheesecake Factory has a nicely seasoned turkey burger that is not dry (most restaurants have very dry overcooked turkey burgers). I would not, however, choose to go to either of those restaurants unless I was somewhere that didn't have other mediocre options because at least I know what to expect anywhere in the country.

A chef I dated told me that the meat used in any sort of lettuce wrap is leftover meat that's old and about to go bad that they dice up and "cover" with other things. I now never eat lettuce wraps unless making them at home.

You can assume the same for at least 50 percent of the dishes in most restaurants.

PF Chang tastes like it always has, but it has gotten really expensive. Interestingly, my grocery bill has not risen that much (in many cases, it has gone down), so I don’t understand this marked increase in restaurant prices.

You sound nice!

This is true. I don’t know why prices still shock me over the past few months of increases but every time I go to a restaurant I’m still amazed. I ordered a few things from Costco today and couldn’t believe how much standard items have increased since the last time I ordered the same things.
