HVAC and CroppMetcalfe

Anonymous
We owned a condo in Tysons Corner and were informed we needed a new HVAC unit is ours was leaking.

We were informed the Cropp Metcalfe was one of the few that did this type of work for condo buildings.

We contracted them and they replaced the HVAC.

Very soon thereafter we noticed a bad odor in the Condo. W were not thinking of the HVAC unit as it had been repaced. After about 3 month of this odor and a few peole feeling sick from the odor, we called
another HVAC company in to check the unit.

The new AC company checked the mew unit that Cropp metcalf installed and determined they had not replaced the old insulation surrounding the unit and it had been absorbing the leak from the old unit. Cropp Metcalfe had NOT REPLACED THE OLD AND WET insulation from the leaking HVAC they had replaced. When they replaced the new HVAC, they did say a word about the insulation surrounding the unit.

Needless to say we would never, never us this company again !!

I have mixed experiences with Cropp Metcalfe but honestly do as well with locally owned places. We are on service plans with Cropp for hvac and plumbing.

Pros: hvac technicians have been knowledgeable, prompt and seem honest; plumbing technicians not as knowledgeable but they respond very quickly even on weekends/holidays vs our prior 2 local companies did not; both hvac and plumbing are responsive for corrections when on occasion I’ve had an issue with their work

Cons: expensive and the salespeople for systems don’t seem as helpful (we replaced an hvac unit and hot water heater with them)

They are pricey but we’ve had great experience. They fixed some majorly bad work done by another company that we found out was using a fake license number on their web site. Been less happy with their plumbers.

And any HVAC which advertises on WTOP radio also will be.
