There are three sentences in the post. Each makes a point. Which point do you dispute? |
All of it. |
I couldn't agree more. Goulet is the absolute worst choice if you care about public education in Ward 3, and in DC in general. |
| I just scoured this guy's website and I didn't learn a single thing about him. He put photos of his Asian children there, but no real substantive background. Seriously, why would anyboyd vote for him? |
Because a Republican who lives in Silver Spring told me them too. |
1. You don’t want constituency services for the next four years? 2. You don’t think a guy who cries persecution when others call him out for dog-whistling is a narcissist? 3. You think narcissists care about others beside themselves? |
Have you ever worked constituent services for a narcissist member of congress? I have. It was the most important thing. Everything else took a backseat. Because it was all about the power of the congressperson and they love that. How is it that you are able to diagnose a complete stranger from a distance? Are you a special psychic psychiatrist? You don’t like him. Whatever. Put away your DSM for Dummies and argue the issues. |
Huh? Ability to provide constituency services is probably the most important issue. Just talk to people who are consistently ignored by their CM’s staff (like Nadeau). We have reams of tweets and hours of debate responses and speeches by which to evaluate this guy. I do believe he is a narcissist, albeit rather low on the spectrum - his infamous answer at the CoC forum and his doubling down on it demonstrate both a lack of empathy and a sense of self-importance. Although to be fair, his opponents are also acting out of unrestrained egotism by not putting the ward’s interests above their only need to have a theoretical chance of being elected. Cool story about your boss, bro. |
| Yeah, given this position, I need to know who I can vote for who will beat this guy (and that supports the already-approved, logical choice for a new HS and ES). |
Oh and hush, hush: he doesn't live in the Palisades right now... |
Mary Cheh has made her decision and is supporting Tricia Duncan. That's how to defeat Goulet. |
I would say the only two with full-throated support are Henry Cohen and Tricia Duncan. The others are various levels of qualified support, Frumin wants to link a new school to expanding Stoddert and Thomas wants to explore other sites before committing. Until Friday Goulet was at "tap the brakes" but it looks like he's gone all-in on opposing the schools. |
There is a debate between the candidates on Zoom tomorrow. I can't attend but someone needs put the point to Goulet's opponents directly that they need to put the greater interests ahead of their own and unite behind a common candidate. |
He worked for the Council for almost 20 years. On paper he's the most qualified, which I imagine is why the Post picked him. If I were councilmember I'd hire him for my staff. But he lacks the charisma to be an elected politician. |
