You don’t like road upkeep? |
I don't know about much lower but there definitely have been multiple years where the inflation-adjusted price of gas was over $4.00/gallon https://www.live5news.com/2022/03/07/heres-what-gallon-gas-cost-year-you-started-driving/ |
| We warned about gas. And you didn’t believe us. Same with inflation. Now we’re warning about food and you still won’t believe it until it happens. |
|
Not only at the pump but EVERYTHING associated with fuel is up too.
Work, have to have gas to make money Utilities food clothing This gas situation is the number 1 reason why we help family out. Two people working, we're talking close to $100 a week. What do most people cut ? Groceries. It's the only thing you can control. This shit is way out of control, on purpose. It's legal theft. Should be illegal. Our betters are laughing. Assholes. |
Gas tax holidays would just boost station profits they wouldn’t pass it on. Supply and demand |
| Oil companies get to do whatever they want, and we all have to just suck it up and pay. Of course, they and their lobbyists will lay the blame elsewhere, and they will laugh about it over kobe beef and cubans as social and paid media repeats the misdirected blame game. |

The problem with gas right now is supply - Saudis/OPEC purposely decreased supply last year, Russian oil is sanctioned, and GOP-aligned American drillers refuse to reopen wells they closed during COVID. They are gunning for Biden.
If I was Biden, I'd take some money from Defense budget and start offering big no-bid contracts to anyone who can start repumping a shuttered well within 30 days. Give some new entrants a chance to eat into the territory of Establishment drillers who are squatting on leases with no movement. ![]() Find more statistics at Statista |

I guess I shouldn't have bought that Hummer.
We just have to ride this out. US oil producers can't "produce" us out of this situation. Gas retailers need to recoup previous losses. As long as we don't raise taxes on gas, it will even out. |
You know, Biden. Wasn’t there a program; it was on the news. |
America has the largest untapped gas reserves in the world. No one is gunning for Biden. He ORDERED leases offline as soon as he entered office. The Democrat platform was green energy all the time well look where that got us - no climate change bill because they shackled it to social welfare and the highest gas prices in 5 decades.
|
He ordered a halt on NEW LEASES on federal land. Why? Because drillers are already squatting on thousands of unused federal leases. We still are not back to active drilling levels pre-COVID. There's no need to lie about the situation. There's plenty of wellheads that can be re-opened and brought back into operation. |
| $6.79 a gallon here. Stop complaining. |
| What are prices in the DC area? I'm in Illinois and just filled up today at $5.19/gallon, up from $4.99 a week or two ago. |
Where is that? |

Who is lowering gas prices?
Also note that Biden just cancelled federal oil and gas lease sales. Less drilling = higher prices at the pump |
