Is MCPS closing early today?

The thunderstorm warnings were canceled

MCPS already sent out a notice saying they will shelter in place if necessary. Read your emails, people.

The cloud cover and mid-morning rain cooled down the atmosphere enough to reduce chances of severe storms this afternoon.

With our afternoon sun and temperature increase, some in our region are sure to see some storm cells later today, but it might not be a widespread event.

I feel like a moron for panicking and getting the kid at 1pm. By the time I got to her school the storm was done

Nasty little cell moving this way, hopefully kids get home and off the bus in time.

There are two storm systems. You really need to read the entire weather report BEFORE you panic.

Can we say MCPS made the right call on this one or is that forbidden?

I panicked when MCPS sent me an alert telling me the kids might need to shelter in place at dismissal. By the time I got to the school, the news had changed, but I wasn't checking it--I was driving.

I don’t get why this would invoke such panic.

It's DCUM: MCPS screwed the pooch again.

Op back and I was happy it was a non-event. When I looked at my weather report it said severe weather, tornadoes and Howard County had just closed. Naturally, I wondered if we were going to do the same. At dismissal the skies above my house were blue and the sun was shining!

Has this pandemic taught you nothing about general anxiety levels in the DMV?
