I can’t tell if this is sarcasm but there are other options- code ninjas, taekwando places, etc.

In Arlington? I don’t think any of them pickup from APS schools?

Yes. There are some daycares that do pickup as well

Claremont definitely has a waitlist. But yes, not all schools fill up.

Pentagon MMA picks up. So does Tae Kwon Do in Bailey's Crossroads.

Also, for those in South Arlington, Empower kids is running an after school program next year. I'm not entirely sure which schools they will pick up at, so double check that.

See, the issue is that we don't know where these daycares that offer pickup are. I am sitting here Googling aftercare options, and none of the ones that you all are mentioning are showing up as servicing my school. That said, it is helpful to know all of this. Either it won't be an issue at my school, or chances are, somehow I will eventually find a care provider that picks up at my school and I can pick up my children from.

If your school historically doesn’t have a waitlist places likely won’t service them. If there is a waitlist this year when there wasn’t one before you can always request it.

I'd connect with people at your school. Not all the schools have an extended day waitlist, to start.

ATS, though it sounds like from another poster we might not need to worry. I wish the County had a centralized list like they do for preschool care.

We're in extended day at ATS and it doesn't seem particularly crowded. The location likely isn't convenient for a lot of parents to pick-up from, plus those who are further have the longer/later bus rides (so less need). This might shift a little with the earlier start/end time next year. The staff are very nice and my kids really enjoy the different activities (you can also pay extra for enrichment classes for the first hour if you/your kids are interested). An extra benefit for my kids has been making another circle of friends with kids from other classes/grades. Good luck!
