Who cares what you think? Or, think long and hard, I think about it all day long! It really doesn’t matter to me what somebody thinks.

As to what kind of truck you should buy, the ridge line is nice if you’re just hauling small items but it really is more like a pilot or Odyssey with the back cut off, and the bed is not as long. So it might not be as useful. I second or third a Ford F150 or a Ram.

They're also making trucks with 4 cyls now. The Ford F150's are also made in 6cyls with a turbo for extra power. A big truck is not necessarily a gas guzzler these days.

It’s still much less efficient than a small car, just because of the extra mass it has to haul around. That inefficiency equates to guzzling energy. So it doesn’t matter what kind of engine it has - even if it’s an EV, it’s still wasting energy.

I'm not a scientist but I do understand science a little. Just because a truck uses more energy than a smaller car doesn't automatically make it a "guzzler". Not all cars use the same energy, so does that make one that uses more energy than another car a "guzzler?"

Besides, why should anyone care what a snarky person like you thinks. If someone wants a truck, then they should go out and buy one.

I’m the one whose dad has a Ridgeline. If OP’s DH wants one, it’s perfectly practical for the needs she described.

The Ridgeline is essentially a Honda Pilot, but with an external cargo area rather than an enclosed one. And there are benefits to this, so people can quit the “minivan with the seats down” comments. (And we own a minivan, and no truck.)

Shape something like a truck, and you get attacked from one side for “trying to boost your ego/act hyper-masculine/guzzle gas,” and select a more efficient truck with a better ride quality, and the other side attacks you because “it’s not a real truck.”
