| If you can find fault with private you will find it 10 fold with public. |
Should not have to pay for the fault in private. I can assume you there is fault. |
I know! MCPS won't cater to my whims that's why we had to go private where at least they'll humor me. |
All of this is true at our public middle school. I assume it’s the same for private so save your money and come on over! |
+1 Teacher here - it’s been tough dealing with behaviors and catching up on missing academics. But I really think next year will be better. The majority of kids will be more engaged and showing school appropriate behaviors, and there won’t be as much unfinished learning. |
I hear yah! We actually wanted our children to learn how to write and to understand math. We are such bishes, beastie! I guess call us entitled! It's our privilege to want to raise thinking humans that can contribute to society. We're the worst! |
From a private school parent to you, you make us look badly. |
With this dumpster fire of a thread, I'll re-highlight my comment once again. |
You are assuming that advanced kids are taught above grade level At private when that is not always the case. So much depends on the private and public options in question. |
^ expects the private school treatment from public |
We tried to switch to private for this year for MS. The ones with openings/would consider our child (or questionable openings where they might have some if they want your child) could not do the same math track and we'd have to pay extra for it or get a tutor/outside class. They start Algebra much later. |
| My child is younger than yours but I've been very pleased with my DS's experience in my Gaithersburg cluster. My child is doing very well. There have definitely been behaviors but my child is able to ignore them. The school isn't perfect but it's meeting his needs so far. |
| My child is older and left private for public at grade 9. It was unfortunate that the year she left ended up being the COVID year and that was a tough year. However, since she has been back in school full-time this year, she's doing well. She has good friends, good grades, and good mental health. Her teachers are similar to private, as in, one is great, many are good, some are average, and one is below average. She happily goes to school every day. I can't imagine having stretched to send her to public and also face losing $1M in our investments this year. We are not high earners and would have had to sell inherited investments to fund private. So, we are happy with our choice as is DD. I really like her high school. I've volunteered there 2x this year and been pleasantly surprised at the respectful kids and happy staff. This is at RMHS. |
You are high earners and really wealthy if you are worrying about losing $1M in investments. And, live in the RMHS school district. |
Quite the contrary. Not sure where you are getting your info. Have you ever enrolled your child in private? |
