It looks like Math Inventory only goes through 8th grade (though not sure why someone wouldn't have taken it in 7th and 8th).
Also was told by teachers that math inventory assesses the math concepts for that grade level. So if there are more discrete math concepts in lower grades, it may not be assessing those. It' s apparently a fairly short assessment. |
It starts on grade level content, but moves up or down depending on how you do. It doesn’t just do grade level which is why a 4th grader can get a score of 315 or a score of 920. I’m a teacher and have had students with these scores (different kids, one very low and the other super advanced). Look up the range for which your score is in the proficient category and that’s the level of your child. |
They probably want to include the advanced math 7th and 8th graders when the report the MI averages across the county. It hides some of the learning loss that happened last year. |
