What a mean-spirited thread. Sarah Jessica Parker removed the mole on her chin and her fans freaked out.

NP I don't think this is a mean-spirited thread. I know someone who has a very large mole more prominent on their face that hasn't had it removed and I wonder why as they spend a ton of money on their looks and weight management even going to the extreme to leave the country for work, yet has a massive mole left on the middle of their face. Why? Just why?

Scarring.

I went to the doctor to have a strange one on my hand looked at. They told me removal would leave a scar worse than the mole itself.

I have a couple on my face. Sorry my cindy crawford looking mole above my lip is so ugly/distracting to you. It is part of me and has been since I was little.

+1 to the bolded. I had one removed on my neck and have a scar worse than the mole ever was. It may depend on the type of mole or its roots or something on how much it will scar.

I've been told the same by a couple dermatologists. Like "if you really really want we can try to remove it but there's a good chance with the scarring it will be more more noticable."

As someone with a number of moles, I have been told the same in particular about the largest most noticeable of my facial moles. Also, some moles I have had removed have grown back.

I want to eat it.

Not all moles can be removed. I have one on my face I’ve asked to have removed a few times over the years and they always say no because they don’t know how deep it is until they cut into it and the scar can be worse than the mole. I trust their expertise, for better or worse.

I have many moles and had some removed from my face and many more from my body over the years. They always give the disclaimer that it might scar, maybe that will be noticeable…probably for fear someone will freak out and be upset, but the result is always great and barely noticeable at most, and this is just with normal good derms.

Just fyi, my dermatologist sent me to a plastic surgeon to remove a mole on my face. She did this with all patients even though she removed a number of them on my back without scarring. No scarring on my face either but obviously every case is different.

I'd rather have a scar than a mole. Plus, she's pale and white. As another pale, white person, I know a scar from a mole can easily be covered with makeup. Also, if you just keep the scar out of the sun religiously it won't be that bad. I think she should get it removed - it's distracting and ugly.

She was on Graham Norton recently, right? I didn't notice a mole

I had a mole right under my nostril that was frozen off in my 20s left a slight scar/bump. It grew over time. At 50 a plastic surgeon removed it and there is zero trace it was ever there. Zero scar.,he surgically removed and stitched it. I wish I had it done 10-15 years earlier.

Didn’t they “enhance” them for the movie to make her look less appealing?
